"This is the South Pacific of travel posters - low coral islands, colorful lagoons and reefs, kilometers of deserted white beaches fringed with coconut palms, towering volcanoes... It has all this and yet only a scattering of tourists visit each year." - Lonely Planet

About the Ha'apai Islands

The islands of Ha'apai are scattered between the main island of Tongatapu to the south and the Vavau islands to the north. Altogether there are 65 islands in the Ha'apai Group but only 17 are inhabited. There are two types of islands in the group, ie a low lying coral islands chain to the east and a volcanic islands chain to the west. The volcanic island of Tofua is the biggest in the group with an area of 45 square kilometers. Tofua is an active volcano. Ha'apai is home for 8000 plus happy, fun and peace loving people.
